Day #53, March 24th, 2016.
Still from The Flash (2014-).
Amidst the chaotic waves of hateful vitriol being spewed on a certain DC film that has just hit our theaters, here’s a friendly reminder that the medium isn’t really important if you’re in possession of the real shit.
The Flash gets everything right. It balances the episodic urgency that it requires as a televised narration. It honors the cartoonish, and dare I say, ridiculous wonder of the comics, stretching out its villains as well as the development of the main characters in a tightly wrung, concise storytelling pattern. It is emotionally available, and the action is as thrilling as it is arresting.
A live-action TV show did this, and continues to do so, every week.
