Day #64, April 3rd, 2016.
Still from The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012).
Reminiscent of the classics of John Hughes, this teen classic materializes the seldom-realized cinematic vision of an author adapting and directing based on his own book.
The book is an adolescent must-have for the literary-inclined and for most peeps like me at the time who simply did not understand what was going on around them, and found a peaceful acceptance in not knowing. A great film in any respect: wonderful acting, an appropriately indulgent mixture of sad and peppy in its soundtrack (features the best rendering of Bowie’s “Heroes” onscreen) and a steady, unforced directorial hand.
